The Etoile Verte is a place of sharing and discussion around Nature that was created by Elise and Stéphane, in Sainte-Colombe.
Elise and Stéphane introduced us to the place.
We started the site visit with the semi-underground greenhouse which aims to keep more heat and produce fruits and vegetables over the longer term. We had the chance to discover new varieties of tomatoes, such as voyage tomatoes.
Right next to this greenhouse, we could see the “star”, in fact, Elise and Stéphane have planted vegetables from yesteryear and today using different gardening techniques.
Why the “star”?
This garden is simply star shaped!
As we continued on our way, we met the Indian runner ducks, their particularity: eating the unwanted vegetables from the vegetable garden. Ducks are not the only animals, there are also: rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep, a donkey …
In front of the house, we can find the priest’s garden, in other words, this garden is made up of medicinal and edible plants. In the past, the parish garden was located near the church and the presbytery in order to be useful to others.
Then, we go to the green vault leading us to the first fruit trees. In the future, this space will be an orchard of fruit shrubs.
At the end of this large space still in development, two beehives are housed there. Installations are underway to protect people during future events around bees and honey …
Finally, we saw the outdoor stage which welcomes the artists every Thursday evening.
